These photos were done with a special camera very quickly as the fire fell. And if you ask, "Did the carpet catch fire ?" The answer is , "NO, it did not catch fire! " The reason the carpet did not catch fire is, I used a special kind of "MAGIC PAPER" that magician use called: "FLASH PAPER " ( available in most Magic Shops for $3.00 for 20 small sheets.) This paper is perfect for Chalk-Talks because it burns as it falls about 4 ft. ( the width of my painting ) and then it completely evaporates . No fire , or even ashes ever hit the floor.
In the second photo above you can see ( if you look closely a white bar about 4 in. wide above the drawing. Inside the 4 in. white bar are special lights and I have a $ 1.00 cheap soldering iron.) When I push a bottom on my control box the soldering iron heats up and the tip of the flash paper attached to the soldering iron with a few inches of thin wire ignites, causing the paper to burn and fall at the same time . It take 1 1/2 minutes for the Flash Paper it ignite and fall with this Soldering Iron. This is a very dramatic effect for $ 1.50 . I have 5 soldering irons in that white above my board. So here we have 5 balls of fire falling. THIS IS DRAMATIC !!
